Dust was sent scattering over the table with a brush of fingertips over the velvet. The tarnished latch needed force to open. No one could ever have guessed Granny kept secrets like this all her life…
I like your writing Lani. Is this one of your new novels? Reading it on my phone, so the page is minimal.

The very heart of your writing while sounding reasonable oriingally, did not really settle very well with me personally after some time. Someplace within the paragraphs you actually managed to make me a believer but only for a very short while. I still have a problem with your leaps in assumptions and one might do nicely to help fill in all those gaps. If you can accomplish that, I could surely end up being fascinated.
